Our Community
Avocado Estates is a private gated community conveniently located in an unincorporated area of San Diego County, just south of El Cajon. Just 20 miles from downtown San Diego and freeway close, with access to the 8 and 94 just a few miles away.
Most of the 101 homes in this quiet, park-like neighborhood, which sits atop a hill on Hidden Mesa, boast expansive views of the El Cajon Valley and the surrounding foothills. Prior to its development in 1977 (click here to see the original marketing brochure), Avocado Estates was a 100-acre Avocado grove. Today, tri-level homes are nestled on undulating land among three remaining mature avocado groves. Residents enjoy the fruit produced nearly year-round by approximately 250 trees of the Haas, Fuerte and Reed varieties. Also growing in the 17 acres of avocado groves are orange, lemon and loquat trees. Contributing to the park-like feel are more than 600 trees such as jacaranda, pines and crepe myrtles in the common areas alone; plus ducks, pheasant, fox, owls, and other wildlife that grace us with their seasonal visits. A private "catch and release" fishing pond dotted with lily pads is the crowning jewel. Other amenities include:
